Stefania Catastini was born on September 17, 1971, in Fucecchio (FI), Italy. In 1998 she received her master's degree from University of Florence, where she studied architecture. From 2003 to 2013 she worked as external partner for LDA.iMdA architetti associati, architecture firm of which she is an active partner since 2013.

BATHING LAKE WITH NATURAL PURIFICATION SYSTEM AND THERMAL BATHS

The project has as its objective to reactivate and develop the two hot springs which have always been there and are key elements of the area whether from a historical perspective or from the point of view of the society.
The warm water of the two sources flows warming up the upper tank, so that people coming from the entrance go down to the natural bathing and meet the polycarbonate “Cubes” where have place the public utilities. With bathing spring water and people come into an ideally contact going in the same direction.
So that, from the first tank, which has a temperature of 37°C degrees, people, as water, are moving in the second storage where the water slowly becomes cooler and then overflows into the natural bathing lake. The artificial storage becomes natural and the excess of water returns to its way.
The lower lake is divided into a small area of low water where we can find aquatic plants (fitodepuranti and oxygenating), zeolite and a deep water area where is possible to swim.

The Bathing Lake has recently received a mention from Premio Architettura Toscana 2017 and in 2014 it was one of the projects selected at the ninth edition of Dedalo Minosse International Prize. The Bathing Lake was also published on some magazines: TOPSCAPE PAYSAGE n° 19 (2015) and MAP 2015 – MOSTRA ARCHITETTI PISANI n° 30-31 (January 2015).
