DESIGN PROCESS
Her act of design is based on experimentation and research.
She manipulates with dexterity both irony and willful breaking with obvious patterns to represent unusual spaces and to stimulate new interactions.
She expresses herself through objects and surfaces with a strong communicative-emotional charge.
Craftsmanship and technology become inseparable elements defining a project.
She complements her profession with the compulsive use of photography to document “the everyday design”.
ARCHITECTURE as promotion of EQUITY & INCLUSION
In 2012 she was elected vice-president of Ordine degli Architetti (Architecture Association), Bergamo branch; where she coordinated and cofounded the Archidonne (women architect)association.
Since 2017 she is curating, togheter with 18 creatives, the Architette = Women Architects no-profit cultural project, promoting women's work in the architecture profession through the diffusionon of the word Architetta (the feminine term for Architect) and of female role models in the design industry.

Currently working on a visual project, Cutoutmix, an open source platform delivering a more inclusive and diverse world of free cutouts for the architecture community. Free Architecture figures who populate renders, an illustration design experiment featuring characters of different ages, skin tones , abilities and gender identities. The collection is unique in being openly against trite stereotyped characters while offering broader and more realistic silhouettes reflecting contemporary life.
DESIGN APPROACH
"I am convinced that, today more than ever, we need to break the 90° degrees-zero waste of space design methodology.
As an antibox believer
I am offering a design
which favours a
deliberate and intentional use of oblique lines, angular shapes and breaking circular drillings to achieve a new type of interaction
with the living environment.
Material experimentation and attention to the visual
storytelling of the project
depend upon a personal need to deliver the design process to a wider audience,
believing architecture, in this delicate time of change, should not to be limited
to an elitist circle.”

A - Urban Cabin
Architectural Reuse of a 1950's open porch / micro architecture with an Italian/Iranian twist / location: Bergamo, Italy, year: 2019 Client: private client Project leader: architetta Francesca Perani Collaborators: Ilenia Perlotti Interior designer, Ilaria Odoli architetta jr, Sara Pacati, photo: Francesca Perani styling: Chiara Birolini interior designer Status: completed type: restauration architecture/ interior architecture/ sqm: 25 Situated in Albino in Valle Seriana, the micro-apartment of just 25 sqms has been designed for a couple with Italian and Persian Bergamo origins. It consists of a complete restauration of an open porch once used as a storage area contiguos to a private garden. A minimal and multifunctional cabin, set on ground level, which summarizes functionality and stylistic resourcefulness of a living space; a green walking roof as an extra outdoor area. / The restaured building represents an extension of a modern villa built in 1968 by Architect Armen Manoukian and renovated by Francesca Perani in 2008. With this new intervention, the external shape has been kept unaltered, prioritizing great openings and an “earth” facade colour; while a second skin, a new stately and playful shading, characterizes the whole restauration. A perforated metal grid which folds freely in front of the south facade and defines a triangular exclusive garden. An open declaration to antiques persian arches as well as a functional response to privacy and sunshading needs. / Exixting building’s limited dimensions and extreme narrowness, suggested a full custom designed interior, where flexibility and multi-usage became key factors. The interior design is composed of two monochromatic boxes in open contrast. A warm osb ( Oriented Strand Board) defines living room, kitchen/study/bedroom area (19sqm) as a unique texturized surface. A dramatic blue glossy resin, recalling of Persian Indigo Color covers all bathroom’s faces where bright white fitting and fixtures arise. The shower gets character from the exixting wall and takes advantage of the private garden’s outdoor space beeing set in front of the door-window. / Diagonal lines define the design of kitchen top and of suspended window frames assuring a dynamic corridor where the twin wooden alcoves develop in favour of a frontal conversation. / Low cost materials, attention to thermal insulation, flexibility and privacy are the key elements of this project where bold contemporary architecture and Iranian culture blend creating a reassuring feeling of intimacy and warmth
